Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art originated in Japan, in which one uses grappling, ground fighting and locks to dominate an opponent, it is also consider a self-defense sport and is very similar to Judo. Because of its emphasis on technique and leverage rather than brute strength, it can be effective even for smaller men and women. It was the weapon-less method of defense that samurais employed when they had lost their sword or spear in the battlefield.
